Our project

(May 2024)
The why of things

When the idea for Garós came about, it was initially intended exclusively for a physical store, considering there was already a wide range of online options. Being able to try on and see shoes is essential to making the right choice and ensuring a satisfactory purchase: searching, seeing, comparing, and finally buying is, for me, the most logical experience. Being able to contribute my knowledge as a user of respectful footwear (although I prefer the term "barefoot" to the word) and complement it with my healthcare knowledge is a bonus. Did you know that there are many foot conditions that are related to or aggravated by (inappropriate) footwear? So it was clear we had to open a physical store.

We were fortunate enough to contact Decotherapy and entrust ourselves to Carolina Baracho as the designer for our project, which is currently underway. I'm going to share some before-and-after (planned) images with you. I'm in love with this, and I'm incredibly excited to welcome you to our space in Castelldefels very soon. We hope it becomes a little bit yours, too. A space where you'll feel comfortable and welcomed, and where you know your questions, concerns, and needs regarding the best footwear for your feet will be addressed. Yes, and we'll also sell shoes!

Selling only barefoot footwear and accessories, although it motivated me and was a driving force for change, wasn't enough, so I started thinking about how my medical background, with 15 years of experience in primary care and having worked to improve communication skills and doctor-patient relationships, could help me. Accustomed to working in a team and knowing the importance of multidisciplinary care, I considered working with trusted professionals, experts in other areas of health, such as pediatricians, nurses, osteopaths, physical therapists, and personal trainers, and how together we could help spread the word about the benefits of barefoot footwear (although it's already a movement) and make it easier for all interested parties to soak up our knowledge.

This is where the magic of the Garós project lies: How are you going to wear barefoot shoes if they are difficult to buy? And how are you going to buy different shoes if you don't know the benefits they have? At Garós, we are going to answer these questions and any others you may ask us. Of course, doing things right takes time, so be patient as we will gradually present the new features. Those that have already arrived: 1. Website with an online sales platform ( https://garos.es ); 2. Presence on social networks (@calzado.garos.es)

(Updated August 2024)

Welcome to our dream!

We opened the doors of our store in Castelldefels on June 19, 2024. We still had a few things to finish, but we were eager to show you the result of many months of work (9 months from when we thought about the idea until we opened the doors), also to bring barefoot footwear to your feet (for those who already knew it and were writing to us to find out when you could come to the store) and to the ears of those who still did not know much about this world but who are joining its regular use.

For all those who haven't yet been able to visit 7 Arcadi Balaguer Street in Castelldefels, or who are too far away to do so, we're showing you a little piece of our dream come true.

Photo 1: Store entrance with the ADULT footwear display and a fitting room area around the olive tree.

Photo 2: The counter behind which you can find us with a smile, ready to advise you and help you find the barefoot footwear best suited to your needs, and especially those of your feet.

Photo 3: Display of the wide selection of children's footwear and a corner for trying on shoes for little ones and adults alike, which we've put on display to protect your and our backs.

The images are a gift from the lovely Carolina Baracho, who traveled specifically to see us and her shop.
